Welcome to the 2010 Formula One Season

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team has a joint-world champion driver line up, and marks the first time in Formula 1 history that the sports two most recent world champions have been partnered together. Michael Schumacher makes a sensational come back at the age of 41 with the Mercedes GP Petronas team, and there are four new teams taking to the grid. This is going to be an exciting season!

The “new” Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team

For 2010 the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team has a stunning driver pairing: 2009 world champion Jenson Button and 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton. It is the first time since 1989 when it ran Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna that the team has fielded a joint-world champion driver line-up,

The Cars & Regulations

The 2010 cars look noticeably different this year to accommodate the biggest change for the 2010 season - the banning of refueling during races. The change requires cars to possess a much larger fuel tank and has a major effect on race strategy, with drivers having to pay more attention to tyre and brake conservation. To accommodate the bigger tank, the cars are likely to feature wider rear bodywork and a longer wheelbase.

More points will be awarded for race winners, in an effort to encourage drivers to compete to win races for the Drivers Champion ship rather than settle consistently for second or third place.
